Depending on the type and severity of a pipeline threat, inspection, assessment, and mitigation programs are required to manage these threats before failures and leaks occur. Proper planning of these programs is essential to provide the necessary framework and guideline to assess and mitigate all integrity threats. With Pinnacle's experience and background we can provide the required expertise to plan and manage your program with safety, compliance, and value as our key drivers.
All programs are planned in accordance with, or reference to, the necessary Codes, Standards, and Regulations such as CSA, ASME, API, NACE, NEB, ERCB and PHMSA. Full turnkey programs including project planning and construction management, or specific aspects of a program are offered as part of Pinnacle's services.
ILI tools are run in pipelines to detect defects such as corrosion (internal & external), cracking (including SCC), dents, mill defects, weld defects (seam & girth weld), etc. Each tool has specific technologies and configurations to detect and size these pipeline defects. Pinnacle can review your current and historic ILI program and provide guidance on ILI tool selection, feature selection, performance evaluation and validation, and re-inspection intervals and schedules.
Typical field inspection programs are created and managed using ILI data and/or by Direct Assessment (DA) methods (ECDA, ICDA, SCCDA) or a combination thereof. Pinnacle can develop a comprehensive and effective field inspection program to verify and assess all pipeline threats and provide on-going and pro-active management of the program. This includes ILI feature and/or site selection, field inspection project planning, engineering support, and NDE management as necessary during program execution and field activities. Items such as data collection standards, NDE requirements, and mitigation methods can all be designed into the field program.
Pinnacle is actively involved in the development, management, and support of Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Programs on both liquid and gas pipelines. We can provide a review of a pipeline system's history and available data to recommend the most valued approach in detecting and managing an SCC threat. Extensive experience with ILI Crack Detection technologies (ie. USCD, EMAT, etc.) and data validation along with SCC Direct Assessment (SCCDA) methods provides us the necessary expertise to assist you with your SCC Program.
Hydro-testing is performed to confirm the integrity of a pipeline segment or system. They can be part of the initial commissioning stages, re-certification/re-rating of MAOP, or as part of an DA program. Pinnacle can provide expertise in the planning, management, and engineering support of these projects. On-site yield plotting and pressure loss evaluations can also be provided as requested by a client.
